This War Merit Cross is coming from a Volkstrum Veteran who was awarded for the defense of the Reich in 1945. After the war (and still nowadays) the svastika was forbidden in Germany, so the Veteran sew (black thread) the side with the svastika to wear it on the oposite side (1939). This was, from him, something currently down after the war. The manufacturer stamped on the ring "60" is also not commonly found.
