1938, one year before the war, Germany prepares its soldiers for the first combats. 
As the Treaty of Versailles dictate, Germany is limited in war weapons possessions.
A parade to this was to use .22lr or 5.6kal ammunition to train the troops. 
It is a rare and very historical item we have here. Training with .22lr will be used diuring all the war to train fresh recruits and Hitler Youths for example. 
The box shows a bit of wear but is still in good condition and empty, of course.
